Clayton's Birthday Weekend!

We had the best time celebrating Clayton's 26th Birthday! Guess how he wanted to spend his birthday.....? You got it. Fishing. Of course. He wouldn't have it any other way. We were so excited to have TP and Emily come up for a visit! TP and Clayton made reservations early on Saturday morning on a private Creek called Dukes Creek.

It looked lovely, but Emily and I were more into sleeping in than getting up at 5:00 am to watch them fish! We met them in Helen for lunch where we munched on onion rings in ranch dressing, grilled cheeses, and big beers. I knew I liked Emily! :)

That night, we came back to the cabin and grilled out! Steak and shrimp kabobs, grilled asparagus, broccoli salad, and potato salad! A great birthday dinner!

The boys smoked birthday cigars....

.....and played lots of games!

(Pick up sticks....a childhood favorite of mine!)

Can you tell these boys are competitive?!

Overall, it was a great weekend! We can't wait to have our visitors back again! We had so much fun with you Emily and TP!

Happy birthday Clayton! I love you so much!

Fishing Themed Birthday for my Fisherman

If you know my husband at all, you know he loves to fish. If you read this blog enough, you'll soon understand the extent to which he loves to fish. He has such a passion for it, so I am slowly jumping on board (no pun intended)! Part of it involved surprising him with a "Fishing" themed Birthday party last Thursday night! We had friends coming in town for the weekend, so I wanted to do something special for him, just the two of us. I spent the day baking a Fishing cake (my mom's recipe that she made for my sister and I when we were kids - our favorite)! I also bought party decorations, fish candy, and goldfish (a fishy snack). I would say, I was being quite the "Fisherwife". After working hard all day, the Fisherman didn't get home until almost 7:00 (you can imagine, Fisherwife wasn't so happy!) I set up a birthday party table of goodies on the back porch. When he came home, he walked straight to the back porch (looking for deer, birds, bunnies, and the rest of our wildlife friends) and to his surprise he found his birthday party! His face lit up and was SO appreciative! Fisherwife was happy again.

See an upcoming post for our favorite birthday cake recipe!

Clayton's Birthday Week!

In my family, we grew up celebrating our birthdays all week long! Last week was such a fun week for us in Young Harris, because my sweet Clayton turned 26 on Saturday! This makes me so happy, because I am 6 months older than Clayton. You don't know how many jokes I take for that.... "Man, you really robbed the cradle." "Amy, you are such a cougar." As of April 24, 2010, I do not have to hear one of these ridiculous jokes from him until October 15! Let the peacefulness begin!

Our week was filled with fishing, baking, cooking out, time with friends, and much more! Check out later posts for details....
